Adjustment

i know, it's been months since i last updated here.  we've been through a lot of change and somehow it's felt too overwhelming to try to sum it all up here in our family blog.  so, i started another blog in the meantime and have left this one hanging.  but, i'm back and feel a little more equipped to fill you all in on what the burgoyne's have been up to.

hmmmm...i think my last post was written right when things began to change....
we left staff with campus crusade for christ.  we celebrated asher's first birthday.  matt started his new job as a treasury analyst downtown indianapolis.  we made it through an onslaught of winter colds.  we adjusted to our little apartment.  we bought a new car we call the black ninja (our older car is affectionately named the "stormtrooper")
... and throughout these things, we have adjusted.  time is a wonderful thing, isn't it?  we are still going through adjustments but things feel a bit less like we're in survival mode.  we've felt crazy lonely at times.   and just crazy in general, at times.  isn't it strange how change can bring out the best and worst in us?  the thing we've been most thankful for in the midst of it all, is how we've experienced the faithfulness of God at work and how it has at times felt closer than our own skin.  he has been so, so good to us.

i personally have just started to feel noticably more adjusted to being a mom and being a stay at home mom.  though i still have a million clueless moments each day, i feel like i'm right were i'm supposed to be.  maybe this is what other mom's meant when they said they finally felt normal again after so many months.   i don't in any way feel "back to" the person I was.  I feel different but I feel much more at peace with the change and adjusted to it.  asher and i are having a ton of fun discovering the world together, each day.
so yes, adjusting has been a theme these last few months and it's what we've been up to!  thanks to all of you who have offered prayers and encouragment as we've walked through and into all the change.

Flurries

(written 12/26/2009)

Everything is changing. As I write, snow flurries are just beginning to fade into a clear, uncluttered space of sky and air outside of our living room window. Christmas was yesterday and it was a full day of warmth, laughter, feasting and enjoying family. I remembered being enormously pregnant a year prior and how we spent our Christmas day not knowing that Asher would arrive just four short days later. Things have been changing since that memory and continue to do so.

Matt and I are leaving staff and will officially be off of staff at the end of the month.  It is still quite shocking for us.  We've had so many tears with this decision.  Some have been as we've remembered moments and entire adventures God led us through as staff with Campus Crusade for Christ.  We have had opportunities, experiences, challenges that were more than we could have ever asked or imagined prior.  We fell in love with so many different people and places and most importantly, with Jesus in ways that are so precious to us now.  We are thankful.
